The current Sound Transit board is made up of members appointed by the county executives of each county based on population. Currently, Seattle-centric King County Executive Dow Constantine appoints members which make up a majority of the board. If we were separated from Seattle, that would no longer be the case. Suburban areas and Pierce County would have greater representation.
Senate Bill 5932 would allow for the rest of King County to break away and form its own government and leave Seattle to experiment on their own. They can have a $50 an hour minimum wage and safe injection sites if they want. Just without our money. We see it far too often, whether it’s social issues, or transit, as Seattle goes, so goes the rest of the Sound. A new county would separate us and our families from Seattle’s crazy socialist ideas.
